LEARNTOROCK is a unique music school dedicated to teaching people about performing and composing popular music. Students have the option to learn either: the electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, or popular vocals. In addition, students learn how to compose and record their own songs using music technology in state of the art music IT suites.
There are various Learn to Rock programmes encompassing all age ranges. These programmes fall into the following categories:
Learn to Rock (11-18): to be launched Autumn 2008 is for any student aged 11-18 from any secondary school in the Yorkshire County
Learn to Rock: Juniors (7-10): to be launched Spring 2009 is for any student aged 7-10 from any Junior School in the Yorkshire County
Learn to Rock: Adults (18+): to be launched Summer 2009 is for any adult of 18+ in the Yorkshire County
Learn to Rock: Schools Packages: These are Bespoke Rock Packages for Junior and Secondary Schools in the Yorkshire County (upon request from September 2009 onwards)
We are looking for people who:
- are enthusiastic, positive and really want to learn
- are interested in making new friends
- are passionate about contemporary popular music making
- are looking for a practical ‘hands on’ approach to learning about contemporary popular music
- are willing to take on new challenges and be involved in great music making
- want to learn about, play and compose contemporary popular music just for fun
- are interested in a career in the commercial music industry
LEARNTOROCK(11-18) is for anyone who:
- is aged between 11 and 18 years old
- has an interest in learning more about contemporary popular music
- wants to know more about and understand the theory of contemporary popular music
- is a beginner instrumentalist/ vocalist and is interested in learning to play an instrument (electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard or contemporary popular vocals only)
- can already play one of the above instruments but would like to take their ability to a higher level
- would like to learn about how to use Music Technology to compose and record songs
- can already use Music Technology and would like to develop their skills further
- is interested in learning to how improvise in a range of different styles
- would like to perform all kinds of contemporary popular music as part of a band
- is interested in learning how to compose and record songs
- would like to gain some work experience in a professional commercial music studio
